Do you love Northern Italian cuisine? How about HBO hit The Sopranos? If you answered “yes” to both, then I suggest a trip to Michelin-rated Acappella Restaurant. Resting on the bustling corner of Hudson and Chambers streets in TriBeCa, the fine-dining spot—complete with soaring ceilings, rich Italian tapestries, soft candlelight, an intimate mahogany bar, exposed brick walls and a massive painting of Duke Federico da Montefebre of Urbino—will probably look familiar to fans of the mobster series, as it has the distinction of being a filming location in the very first episode of the long-running show.

If you felt hunger pangs as you watched Tony and his crew of wise guys chow down on hearty Italian fare, why not try the restaurant’s delectable offerings, whipped up by owner and Chef Sergio Acappella, for yourself?

THE FOOD
The extensive menu features plenty of signature dishes—from the Tuna Caviar appetizer, presented on a bed of puree avocado and topped with cream, chives, fresh glasiar American caviar (seasoned with the family’s secret recipe) and smoked salmon; to the Chef’s Tasting Menu appetizer, featuring plenty of delicacies from the sea, including Oysters alla Rock. Patrons can also opt for a Chef’s Tasting appetizer sans the seafood, which includes a trio of oh-so-fresh homemade pastas.

Main course highlights include the foodie-approved Fresh Dover Sole in light butter sauce, Triple-Cut Veal Chop broiled in the fire and the Instagram-worthy 3 ½-pound lobster with white wine, garlic, garlic and even more garlic.

Other mouthwatering morsels include the Beef Capriccio with fresh Filet Mignon, paper-thin shavings of regiano parmigiana cheese and truffle oil; Fettuccine Acappella with porcini mushrooms, artichoke hearts and sundried tomatoes; and more.

PLENTY OF PRAISE
I guess all those takes spent noshing on hearty Italian fare while filming had a lasting impression on Tony Soprano actor James Gandolfini, as the thespian was a frequent patron of the establishment. Non-famous types also like the space—from hotel concierges like Lorena Ringoot of The Surrey on the Upper East Side, who cites the food as “consistent and excellent” to hospitality professionals who work a little farther downtown, including John-Paul Palace, a concierge at Hotel Mela in Midtown, who says, “the food is great and the chefs are a delightful set of characters.”

My coworkers at Where® IN New York also can’t get enough of the restaurant’s food, including Publisher Adeline Tafuri Jurecka, who exclaims, “the pesto sauce tastes just like what I’ve eaten in Italy.” Maria Pavlovets Iellimo, Director of Client Services & Events, agrees while Senior Account Manager Sara Procter Goldenberg is a big fan of the lobster ravioli, describing it as “delicious and not heavy.”

If you want to brag to your friends that you ate where Tony Soprano did—and had a mouthwatering meal to boot, visit the Michelin-rated Acappella Restaurant today. Call the restaurant, visit its website or check out its Facebook page for more information.
